The Governor of Al-Qassim region chairs a meeting to follow up on the study of water resources in the city of Buraidah.

His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim Region, chaired a meeting today at his office in the Governorate to follow up on a study of groundwater and surface water resources in the city of Buraidah. The meeting was attended by a number of officials and included a team from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, in cooperation with the King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies at King Saud University in Riyadh. During the meeting, His Highness reviewed the details of the study, which analyzed the current state of water resources in the city. This analysis involved specialized geological, geophysical, and hydrological studies aimed at identifying groundwater and surface water sources, monitoring rainwater collection sites, analyzing their flow and accumulation points, and assessing their impact on the urban area of ​​Buraidah. The study also explored ways to utilize these water resources and enhance their management efficiency to support water sustainability, reduce the risks associated with water accumulation, and achieve optimal use of rainwater. His Royal Highness the Prince of Qassim emphasized the importance of these specialized studies in supporting urban planning and decision-making, and in implementing recommendations to reduce water accumulation. He noted that effective water resource management is a fundamental element in promoting sustainable development and protecting the environment. His Highness called for the integration of efforts among relevant entities and for leveraging scientific and research expertise to develop practical solutions that contribute to improving infrastructure efficiency, enhancing urban preparedness, and achieving national development goals.
